The Athens Elefthérios Venizélos International Airport, whose airport code is ATH, opened in 2001 and is about 20 miles east of Athens. It has two terminals: the Main Terminal and the Satellite Terminal, which are connected by a foot tunnel for easy access. It gets its long name from a popular Greek politician, Elefthérios Venizélos, who served as a government leader in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Main Terminal
The Main Terminal consists of three levels: the lower level Arrivals area, the upper level Departures area and a third level, which is actually called the 2nd Level. On the Arrivals Level, you'll find baggage claim and access to all transportation services. Departures is for all check-in and boarding and the 2nd level houses a museum, a chapel and a couple of restaurants. Satellite Terminal
The Satellite Terminal is used for flights as it's needed. All check-in is located in the Main Terminal. If you find out you'll be boarding your flight at the Satellite Terminal, there is an underground walkway that connects the two. Most of the airport's services, shops and restaurants are in the Main Terminal, so if you need them, be sure to use them before heading to the Satellite Terminal.
