I reserved an intermediate vehicle and received a booking confirmation. Shortly there after when I went to the rental location to pick up the rental car I was informed that instead of the car that I had booked and reserved they only had a truck. I am a short petite gir and I did not rent nor want a truck to drive. I was unapologetically told there were no other vehicles despite my booking confirmation and there is nothing they can do. I left the rental location unsatisfied during a time that finding an alternative rental car in town was quite nearly impossible. They went into the system at this time and canceled my reservation as expected since they had been able to give me car; however, I was still charged the insurance on said vehicle but I never picked up. Now I’m having to deal with the insurance company to try and get a refund , as reaching customer service through the rental company is nearly impossible.

I loved how simple, easy and affordable the process was. What could’ve been better? The location assigned to me on my reservation was different than the one that was showing in Enterprise’s system.

Pros:

The staff was difficult at the airport, we had to pickup are car at a different location(On Nebraska) and to get a Uber to that location. Once we got there.....The young lady was very helpful. Was concerned on drop off because we originally was to have a car from the airport but the young lady state we could drop off the car at 3909 hillsborough ave. Which was ok but we still were inconvenienced on a expense of getting a Uber.

Cons:

Making sure that you have enough vehicles to rent to customers. All three locations next to enterprises did not have cars to rent to customers. Customers were pissed off and being turned away without any assistances.

Enterprise accepted my reservation for a Sunday return to a location that is not open on Sundays. I walked to the Dropbox to find that “due to security issues” they do not accept drop offs after hours and if you drop the keys, you are liable for anything that happens to the vehicle. My flight out was before they opened on Monday. I spent 90 minutes on the phone trying to find someone who could tell me what to do and ultimately, no one had an answer for me. National chain submitted a ticket with the branch I was using in HOPES that they wouldn’t charge me if I returned the car to the airport the next day. Apparently the national brand has no way of contacting branch managers in instances like this and they also don’t have authority to waive fees on behalf of stores using their name. The entire experience was extremely inconvenient. Luckily I didn’t miss a flight because of it but as a young female renting a car alone, I did NOT appreciate sitting in a car in a bad part of town (bad enough for them to blame no drop offs on security issues) for 90 minutes. It has been 2 days since Sunday and I still have not received a call regarding my experience, though I’ve left multiple messages. I’ve had great experiences with Enterprise in the past but the lack of competence I experienced from the team this past weekend will cause me to take my business elsewhere going forward. I know mistakes happen but a large chain should have a much better internal communication system and plan for things like this. Very disappointing.

We had to rent the car at the very last minute because we couldn't pick up our rental with Enterprise due to a computer glitch that wouldn't accept credit cards. The price was the same, we got a Volvo which we've never had during a rental. The car was beautiful, felt very safe and we were able to pick it up QUICKLY

We had booked a van online at Tampa international airport and when we got there we were told we didn’t but they said u must have been re-routed to a Avis agent half hour north of airport- this was terrible- then we were told we could not return it at Tampa and had to bring it back the agent or we would be charged - terrible - we should be partially compensated for out trouble Darren

Pickup was slow as all car keys seem to be thrown in one big drawer, with no organization. I inquired about the delay and was told there are a lot of cars in their compound. My car with filthy inside and out. The bugs on the windshield seem to have been there for weeks. I asked about car cleanliness and was told it was clean yesterday. I said NOT today. I was told it would be 45 minutes before someone could clean it. I took it filthy instead. The windshield washer had no fluid. Drop off was quick and easy.

This is one of the best car rental places I have been to. Professional staff that made the pickup and return easy. Easy to get to this location also. For some reason also cheaper than the other locations.

Radio didn’t work, screen flashed on and off. Avis was too hard to get ahold of to file complaint. Gave up on phone after 40 minutes of hold 2x’s.

Terrible. I had to take an Uber to get three and they told me they gave my rental away because of the demand in town from a Billy Joel concert. I had to pay for an Uber back to my hotel and lost $80 paying for Uber to get there and back.

nothing was explained to me , i waited an hour to get my car we did not walk around the car i had no clue how to work this car , there were strachs on the car , and they didnt tell me the drop off was worse , you just drop off the car and there is no one to help us , you just leave the keys in the car so in personal

There was a mix up on the drop off of the car. We had selected same drop off when making our reservation. We were told only because we asked that it had to be dropped off at a different location! We could not rebook or change it at the airport - instead we were told to call a 1-800 number which I did and after getting transferred around, was told I had to call the location where we were suppose to drop it off at. I did that. They told me they couldn’t do anything about it and that they didn’t think it would be a problem for us to take it back to the airport - but they couldn’t promise we wouldn’t be charged extra fees! So then I tried calling the airport - several times and they never once answered the phone! We ended up having to drop the car off in the city and getting a ride to the airport. Very disappointing and frustrating that I talked to no less than 4 people - none of which could help.

Where do I start? Worse experience ever. Went to the airport hertz counter and they said the hertz we were put in was off the airport. Took a cab there and after a F’ing $60 cab ride in a bad side of town, they said they had no cars. WTF. After waiting 2 1/2 hrs we get a POS car with 50k miles on it. Never again with kayak or hertz

My rental was suppose to be at Tampa airport, But upon arrival, Hertz apprised me it was at its North Tampa location. There was no mention in my itinerary of North Tampa. To resolve, I had to pay current rate of $400 vs. $200 I orriginally contracted in February.

The Hertz rental location manager did not have my vehicle ready and available for me at my scheduled time and then proceeded to blame my frustration on my being 30 minutes late past my scheduled pickup time, which was kind of an odd excuse for why my rental was not ready or available. An hour later, the rental vehicle arrived on the lot in horrible shape (dirty on the outside and a complete mess on the inside). The story from the store manager was that the vehicle needed an oil change and that's why it was not on the lot. So, I drove away in my filthy late vehicle that I had prepaid for about 3 weeks prior. The most intriguing part of my Hertz rental experience was when the Hertz rental location manager arrived at my home un-announced and un-invited about 2 hours after I picked up the rental vehicle and told me it was an emergency that the prior renter had left something inside the vehicle. I was flustered not only at the fact that this manager had decided to show up without my knowledge or consent, but also because I was still working and on a phone call so I wanted to just make him leave. At this point, my children had already put some of their bags into the rental vehicle as we were about to depart on our road trip within the next hour. So, as I allowed the Hertz manager to search for this mystery item I noticed that he was being extremely guarded and not sharing what he was looking for. I understood why when he located the item and tried to hide it from me... It was a GUN. A pistol inside the rental vehicle right next to where my kids would be sitting. I was so amazingly upset, angry, frustrated and utterly dumbfounded that I just wanted him to leave. I reported all of this experience and information to Hertz and I am still awaiting an apology, a confirmation, some form of compensatory value but most importantly an explanation as to how this happened and how they will ensure that it never happens again!! I have contacted Hertz multiple times through social media, by phone, by email, but every response has been "we are looking into it". Unless something unexpected happens, I fully expect to ignore me unless legally forced to do something. I would probably try and avoid a company like this - especially because they are just coming off of a massive lawsuit settlement where they falsely claimed renters had stolen their rental vehicles and had them arrested!! What a great company! Avoid Hertz. You'll be happier.

The car pick up and drop off experience was smooth but Hertz charged me multiple extra charges (including a charge double the entire cost of the car rental and the cost of the toll when I had paid the toll in cash and intentionally declined the toll pass) that I had to call them about after my trip, which was time consuming and annoying.
