KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Park City

  • Whether you're in Park City for business or leisure, a car rental in Park City is the best way to get around. You can drive to attractions in Park City like Deer Valley Resort or go sightseeing in other towns like Salt Lake City, which is around 35 miles southeast. Don’t hassle with public transportation if you can get a car rental. You can up and go at whatever time you want with a rental.
  • If you're an eco-friendly traveler, rent an electric vehicle during your visit to Park City, Utah. You'll have access to about 55 public charging outlets in various locations around the city. Most stations offer level 2 charging ports and are free to use. The main charging networks operating in Park City include ChargePoint and Tesla Destination Charger. Some vacation rentals and hotels also offer their guests EV chargers for convenience.
  • If you are flying to Park City, you will most likely land at the beautiful Salt Lake City International Airport. The airport is only about 27.3 miles from Park City. Fortunately, you can get a Park City car rental from the airport. The car rental facility is at the Gateway Center, next to the parking garage. Accessing the facility from the terminal is through the two bridges in the baggage claim area.
  • If you want to add another person to help you drive your cheap car rentals in Park City, ensure they meet the requirements for a primary driver. These requirements include a valid driver's license and identity card. They must also be at least 18 years old- the airport rental is the only exception, in which case all drivers must be 21 and above. Additionally, some car rental providers may offer a free additional driver option, so ensure you check with your car rental provider in advance.
  • Park City is a small town known for skiing, snowboarding, and the Sundance Film Festival. The city receives thousands of guests visiting the ski resorts and other attractions. As a result, the town experiences traffic congestion because of the many people there. However, traffic doesn't last long and quickly clears out.
  • If you travel with the young ones, ensure you mount a car seat in your Park City car rental. The type of child car seat to add to your rental car contract depends on the kid's age and height. Federally-approved child restraint devices are required for children under eight years old. The safer option is to keep your child in a booster seat until they are at least 4" 9' inches tall, regardless of age. Seat belts should cross the shoulder properly, centering over the collarbone. Once your child outgrows the booster seat, the law recommends that your child use the back seat from age 9 to 12.
  • Park City is a hub for skiing and snowboarding. The city receives about 11 inches of snow in a year which is lower than the country's average but still on the higher side. Additionally, the town sometimes experiences snowstorms. It would be best if you were prepared for such seasons and drove carefully.

The car broke in the snow, they were not helpful. I was told I would get a cross-over they did not say it would be extra then they wanted me to pay 500 bucks extra. They offered a free upgrade to a muscle car but it was no different then the first car I had. They were not helpful and very rude.

2.0 Poor

Jun 2021

KAYAK

Cons:

I specifically rented a cargo van because I needed to move furniture. When I arrived to pick up the car, the staff told me they did not have a cargo van available - and the only vehicle they could give me was an old, worn-out minivan. As a result, I was not able to complete the move as planned. Further, the staff was not helpful in any fashion and simply told me there was nothing else they could do - it was a take or leave it situation. They made little effort to address the obvious error that had been made with my reservation.

Cons:

The vehicle I reserved was not available - so I was forced to take another vehicle. The staff was very unapologetic and said the problem occurs - and i had no choice other than to take the car they offered. It was a very disappointing experience.

It took longer than expected to get the car. There was a line. Very busy place it seems. Gas tank was empty at pick up, but they marked it empty, and said they'd credit back some $$ if there was gas in tank at return. Options were very minimal. Upgraded, but there was only one option

KAYAK

Pros:

Hybrid had good gas mileage, staff members were friendly and explained options without being overly pushy

Cons:

The Fusion was the only "full size" car available, and the hybrid battery took so much trunk space that it barely fit the description of fitting 2 large pieces of baggage, taking tremendous trickery to fit the bags in after each unload/reload. The satellite office was not very helpful in finding us a replacement full size car, but we managed through our trip. All other aspects of the car worked out well.
