Dubai International Airport serves the most prominent of the emirates in the UAE. Located 3 miles southeast of the Dubai City center, the airport is a gigantic complex full of luxury shops and guest services. Numerous dining and shopping venues in the airport exist, including many duty-free perfume, gold and tobacco shops. Other services within Dubai International Airport include the five-star Dubai International Hotel, which also offers a health club and business center for guests.
The airport road runs on the east side of Al Khor (The creek). Taxis, limousines and buses are available for travel into the city from the arrivals hall. For travel to the airport, there is a large car parking lot and shuttles running between the two terminals of the airport. Dubai International currently processes 18 million passengers annually and offers flights on over 100 airlines, most of them national airlines serving destinations in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Of course, the Emirates, UAE's own airline, offers long-haul flights to cities all over the world, including New York, Houston, Glasgow, both airports in London, and Sydney, just to name a few.
