Car Rental

Rental Car reservation counters are found within Arrivals Hall 2 near the Domestic Terminal. Companies located within the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, and Sixt. Rental cars are then picked up in front of garage P1. Those on vacation who plan to tour the surrounding areas will find that rental cars are the best option because it allows drivers the flexibility of setting their own schedule.

Public/Ground Transfer

Public bus service is available from Helsinki on buses 415, 451, and 615. Those arriving at Helinski-Vantaa International Airport can head outside of both the International and Domestic Terminals to catch buses heading into the city to catch train service if needed or to access the area's hotels. The fare is determined by the bus pass travelers purchase. Regional Tickets offer multiple trips for one day within a certain area and generally cost around 11€ ($15) or 33€ ($45) for five days at adults rates and 5.50€ ($7.60) for one day or 11€ ($15) for five days at the child rate. Travel between 2am and 4:30am does cost extra. Buses will drop tourists off at area hotels free of charge. Baggage capacity can be an issue if the bus is crowded, so passengers with extra baggage may want to find a more accommodating option.

Airport Shuttles

The Finnair City Bus shuttles passengers to or from the airport to/from the train station or to/from Hotel Inter-Continental. The bus ride takes approximately thirty minutes and costs 5.20€ ($7.20). Finnair City Bus picks up passengers outside of both the International and Domestic Terminals. Outside of the Domestic Terminal, Finnair City Bus is the first bus in line. At the International Terminal, the Finnair City Bus is found at Platform 10 across from the taxi station. Again, baggage space is troublesome when the bus is full, so those with lots of bags may find the Finnair City Bus to be a hassle.

Free Hotel Shuttle service is also available and can bring passengers to one of six area hotels. This is the most convenient option for those staying at area hotels. Outside of the International Terminal, passengers can find the Hotel Shuttle at Platform 11, adjacent to the escalators. At the Domestic Terminal, the Hotel Shuttle is located at Platform 9.

Limousine Services

ONElimo serves Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport offering airport transfers, cruise ship transfers, or extended limousine rentals. Limousine Service, Ltd also offers airport transfers and a wide range of limousine services. Reservations must be booked in advance of a passenger's arrival. Prices are much higher than with other transportation options, but limousines are spacious and comfortable and that can be a nice treat after a long flight.

Taxi Services

Taxi stations are available outside of both the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. Passengers can reach the taxis by exiting through arrivals. Taxi dispatcher counters are found in Arrivals 1 and Arrivals 2. Prices for the taxi ride into Helsinki are pre-set by the airport, so passengers should not pay more than the flat rate of 30€ ($41.35). The ride takes about half and hour and baggage capacity is generous.
