Bike Rentals

Nantucket is a relatively small, quiet island off the coast of Massachusetts. There is a bike rental desk within the airport terminal. Helmets and all accessories are included in the rental price. Bicycle rentals start at $20 per day/$80 per week for adult bikes, and children's bike rentals start at $10 per day/$40 per week.

Car Rental

For those who prefer the convenience of a car, especially for those with a lot of luggage, Hertz, Nantucket Island Rent-A-Car, and Windmill Auto all have reservation desks within the main terminal. Roads on Nantucket can be somewhat narrow and winding, so drivers must expect to slow down and remain alert for foot and bike traffic while driving around the island.

Airport Shuttles

NRTA (National Regional Transit Authority) operates regular shuttle service between Nantucket Memorial Airport and the town. The shuttle runs every twenty minutes from mid-June to Labor Day between the hours of 8am and 6pm. The shuttle makes frequent stops along the way, so most tourists will find the shuttle has drop-off points near many rental homes and cottages. The fare for this airport shuttle is $2 per person each way. There are a few rules that must be followed. Shoes and proper attire (no swimsuits) are required. Pets are allowed providing they are in a cage or leashed. Food is not allowed on any shuttle, nor are beverages. The shuttles do have wheelchair ramps, but it is up to the handicapped person to make sure the brake is set during the ride, those who refuse to secure their wheelchair will not be allowed to board the shuttle.

Limousine Service

Ara's Tours offers limousine service on the island of Nantucket. Limousine travels is rather luxurious and offers plenty of room for passengers and their baggage. Limousine service is more expensive, so those opting to hire a limousine for transfers should be willing to pay more than double or triple what a taxi would cost in most cases.

Taxi Services

Taxi services is relatively inexpensive on Nantucket. Fares from the airport are one-way and determined by the final destination, but sample fares are $15 to Cisco-Miacomet or Siasconset; $9 to Mid Island or the town center, $24 to Massasoit Bridge or Squam. There is a limit on the number of passengers that a taxi can carry and extra baggage usually requires an additional charge.
