Newark Airport Transportation

AirTrain is operated by New Jersey Transit and operates every few minutes throughout the day. From midnight until 5 a.m., the shuttle runs approximately every ten minutes. All rides from points within the airport to other airport locations are free. If you are traveling from another New Jersey location to the airport on AirTrain, you will need to purchase a ticket through New Jersey Transit.

Car Rental

There are six car rental companies serving Newark Liberty International Airport: Avis, Budget, Dollar Rental, Hertz, National Car Rental, and Enterprise. Enterprise is located off of the airport property. To get to Avis, Hertz, and National, take AirTrain to Station P3. To get to Budget and Dollar Rental, take AirTrain to Station P2. You can get to Enterprise by taking AirTrain to P2 and taking a courtesy vehicle to the Enterprise location.

Public/Ground Transfer

There are a number of ground transportation options available for travelers going from Newark Liberty to Manhattan and other locations. The Super Shuttle is a mini-bus that will take passengers from the airport to Manhattan points between Battery Park (Wall St. area) and 227th Street. The ETS Air Shuttle is a shared ride service offering door-to-door service. The Newark Liberty Airport Express also takes travelers to Port Authority and Grand Central Station in Manhattan, where riders can connect with the New York City Subway to get to points in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. Even if you have to wait, public transportation may be less of a hassle than car rental since Newark and Manhattan are known for their traffic congestion.

Airport Shuttles

AirTrain is a shuttle service that is operated by New Jersey Transit. AirTran runs through Newark Liberty and is free for airport users taking the shuttle from one airport point to the other. Passengers can also catch AirTrain at other points in New Jersey and take it directly to the airport. Ticket prices start at $5.50 and prices vary based on origination point and final destination.

Check with each individual company to see if service is available to Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and other long-distance points.
