SideStep recently merged with Kayak. Of course we had to have our wonderful attorneys (whom we LOVE, really!) carefully review various policies. The privacy policies of Kayak and SideStep were pretty much the same, except that the SideStep policy had one little funky part. It said they (who are now "we") would delete data connected to you (who are still "you," at least as far as we know) after a "reasonable time."
That's a bit too vague for our tastes, so we want to drop it. Instead, we want to explicitly give you, the user, the power over your history data and how long it sticks around. So we created the zap page. Visit this page, follow the instructions and ZAP! we've forgotten all about what you've been doing at SideStep. We made the link easy to remember, so if you suddenly feel the need to erase your activity, you won't have to dig around for this page.
One thing that is very important to keep in mind is the nature of the data that we keep around in our systems. We don't have your credit card number, we don't know your address or phone number. We don't know your social security number. This is all we know about you:
The funny thing about privacy, though, is that stuff that seems pretty innocuous can turn out to be a big deal. We're not sure why anybody would care about erasing this kind of data, but that's not our business. It's yours. It's private.
You can read our entire privacy policy. Exciting stuff, let me tell you. Hoo boy.
