The island's most romantic restaurant, AJ's offers dining either on a screened-in patio beside a narrow creek or inside, where candles and dried-flower arrangements adorn a mix of tables and booths. Most romantic of all is the one private table in a corner. The menu offers a mix of Italian-style pastas -- Chincoteague oysters in a champagne cream sauce is a house specialty -- and traditional dishes such as fried or steamed shrimp and oysters, plus char-grilled steaks. A popular local hangout, the friendly and cozy bar offers sports TVs and its own lunch and snack menu (including sandwiches, shrimp, and small orders of pasta).
