They refused to rent us a car, despite literally confirming by calling Budget earlier in the day, simply because we "made the reservation the same day of the pick up." They had keys for us. Nobody in line behind us. Has taken all our info. But saw it was same day reservation and refused. We walked over the enterprise and rented with them on the spot no issues for the same price. Never use Budget.

The customer-facing staff decided to close the office 5 minutes early and threatened me that I would have to keep the car incurring expenses for another couple of days over the weekend, They were rude and dismissive, and the only way I could return the car was to call their manager and complain. Furthermore, the staff neglected to inform me about the option to add the car to my road toll payment app. This lack of information led to me incurring a high service fee for toll road payments, which I consider to be a very poor business practice. Overall, the car was fine, but the service was deplorable, and I will not be hiring from Budget again!

Horrible customer service experience. There were no instructions in how to get there, they are not located in the airport and you have to find the shuttle which is not easy with no directions. It took us so long that when we got there they said our booking was essentially cancelled and we’d have to make a new booking for 30% more. Awful experience, highway robbery.

they are scammers: thet have charged me 22,40 euro because the car was not clear in their opinion. The car of course was not clean as when i got the car but was not very dirty at all. They also did not released any invoice for it. Also i have waited 2 hours before getting the car at the checkin desk.

As for today we have sent a couple of emails requesting information about a charge that was placed on the credit card, but no answer has come from the company that works under the name of Auto One. We are still waiting for a response to clear up the charges.

1200 dollars charged for a chip in the windshield, is a racket, I doubt they will be repairing the chip or replacing the windshield like they said they had to. Also the 3rd party rental insurance I got from kayaks when I got the car didn't cover it they said. After this trip I won't be using kayak, Surprice or Expedia again and will definitely tell my friends about the bad experience.

Because I did not have an international drivers permit, they refused to rent me the car. So, I went to Hertz and they were happy to rent me a car without an IDP. I still need a refund… terrible that I had to spend my first day of vacation dealing with this.

They gave us an upgrade.

Cons:

Dollar shares employees with Hertz at the Linante airport. Directions to the rental spaces to get the car were terrible. Never saw a green bridge to cross over! Most importantly,the car's rear bumper was literally duck taped onto the car! The employee at the lot was nowhere to be found. Went back to the rental desk. The clerk came out to look for herself and then said that no one had checked the car that had been returned in the morning. Really? No one checked by 2pm? They had no other car supposedly. Fortunately, my husband is a Hertz Gold member and she provided a Hertz car and an upgrade. The whole process took 90 minutes. Terrible experience.

The price was great, the car (Fiat 500) was perfect for a road trip in Italy and it was a great drive.

Cons:

It's terribly complicated to pick up a car at Malpensa airport in Milan. It seemed like every car rental desk had everyone waiting 2 hours to be served. I think Hertz is particularly worse because they only have one desk with a handful or less of agents serving Hertz, Dollar & Thrifty rentals. First, it's not easy to see the signs that Dollar rentals can be picked up at Hertz. I lost a 1/2 hour just trying to figure out where to go to get my Dollar rental. Second, the wait was 2 hours...really 2 full hours on the morning I arrived. It does not help that Kayak's instructions say that Dollar is "outside of the airport" which is not true. It's with all the other car rentals right in Terminal 1.

Easy to find the car and get out of the airport once I had my contract

Cons:

Waited over an hour to get to an agent to check in and get my car. Way to few agents for the number of people renting cars. Completely unacceptable

It would be more honest to include items like VAT and "other fees" that are charged by rental companies so consumer could make more accurate price comparisons. We paid almost twice the advertised price advertised on Kayak. Not happy customers.

Cons:

Staff is rude and standoffish. They make you wait for over 1.5hrs to pick up a car you have a confirmation on and constantly try to upsell. Do not rent from here. They put the Hertz name to shame.

Although I was able to make a reservation online, the place was not open when I went to pick up the car. After waiting an hour for the place to open, I went to a different Hertz only to find out that it was a holiday and only certain locations were open. I was very frustrated by the fact that I was allowed to make an online reservation despite Hertz knowing they would be closed that day. No one ever tried to contact me and give me the heads up. Very frustrating experience, would not recommend

Horrible wait times to pickup car even with reservation. No information on wait times or why the wait was so long. Nothing done to address the wait or the people waiting in 39 degree Celsius weather because there was no room inside. Attendant told us there was gas near the drop-off which was completely wrong.

I had to wait an hour for my already short rental because I wasn't directly a Hertz customer, then I wasn't informed anywhere that they charge commission for the pre-paid gas so a €70 rental cost me €115, and another €100 rental after that cost me €177. Didn't find out until the second time because I wasn't even given a proper check out service at the end of the first. Disgusting, will never use them again.

Upon arriving in Milan Italy, we had to change our plans at the last minute, and went to the SIXT counter at the airport. I booked online while standing at the terminal and when we got there, it would’ve been a delay with the car I reserved. Fortunately, they were able to get us a better car at a similar price which was immediately available. The experience and service went above and beyond. Special thanks to Sara Faize who worked at making the process very easy and satisfying.. Sara gave us her contact information and followed up with emails throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend SIXT.

Lots of fees that were not transparent. The taxes were 800 euro and we got stuck with a large SUV when we booked a sedan. Plan on paying 2-3 times the amount quoted.

This was a bait and switch scam. I traveled with my family of 5. I chose to pick up my car at 5pm in the reservation and the other family chose noon as typically the time of day doesn’t need to be exact. When we arrived they told me I was too early and my car wasn’t there. Had to pay DOUBLE!!

Location at Milan train station was NOT UPDATED; VERY HARD TO FIND. As well as dropoff at Bologna airport. Dropoff location was NOT CLEARLY MARKED! I was charged again for insurance by affiliate Italian company!

The dropping of the car was a disaster. The staff refused to check during the drop-off upon my repeated request for checking. The next day I was given an email informing that there was a damage and charged my EUR435.

Pros:

Their printers were broken and the actual car pickup is several blocks away. They give you a printout with directions and send you across multiple intersections and steep ramps to get to the -1 level. It's probably the worst / sketchiest car rental I've made and I've rented all over the world.

Very difficult to get to Milan office, series of one way street, no place to park, stuck in Milan traffic jam for 2 hrs, therefore ,returning the car 1/2 hour late, charged me 100EUROS. Never rent with AVIS again!

At first I was shocked that I have to give 1400 euros in deposit if I used my credit card insurance. It’s something I’m not used to. Their insurance at 29euros/day looks a little bit steep, but it really is a question-free insurance. Despite that, the price was so low on the rental itself that it did put it to same level to other agencies without any insurance. The car was top notch and the service was perfect.

Terrible experience. When we arrived to pick up the car they wanted 200 euros more for a one way drop off fee. I had read the contract carefully and nowhere did it say we would be charged for this. The rental company was unable to show it to us; they just insisted it was their policy. We left and rented from enterprise and they were wonderful. No hidden fees. Will never book with Centauro again.

Unfortunately they did not make it clear that unlike other international companies you must have a PHYSICAL international driver’s license to rent the car. Additionally they have zero flexibility for arrival time despite attempting to call multiple times. Ended up not giving me a refund either after not accepting my virtual intl drivers license and physical American one

They didn't have a car for us when we got there because we arrived a few hours late due to a delayed flight. They said it was a no show so they gave the car to someone else and then tried to charge us double to get another car. And they still charged us for the one they gave away and have not refunded

Finding the pick up and drop off was a nightmare and we lost hours of time. Not clear where to catch the shuttle bus in Rome. The locations are not proper on google maps and the address provided exists near the wrong airport in Milan. We loat 1. 5 hours. Also, terrible experience with Marco in Milan, so rude. Receptionists were nice. Car was fine.
