Rent a Lexus in Allentown

I think it is immoral to charge me $10 a gallon for a full tank of gas, when I did not use the full tank. I sort of understand charging a premium. The gas supply is no doubt right next to the wash and detail area, so it cannot cost much more for the service folks to gas up the car. It's just another way, along with selling insurance, that the Hertz car rental system gouges the unsuspecting.

Pros:

It was easy to pickup and drop off. Car was a good size for our needs and would rent again from Thrifty.

Cons:

The car smelled kinda weird - like smoke but it wasn't unbearable.

Pros:

I can’t really complain about the rate. It was quite affordable.

Cons:

Even if you are paying a good rate, you should expect that the car would at least be safe. The front tires had NO tread left and i was having to drive in the rain! Every time I would start from a stop the tires would spin out!!! Yikes! And when breaking the antilock breaks would engage. Definitely one of the scariest drives I’ve driven!!! Also, I had no idea that the location was NOT on airport like all of the other locations! Someone should apprise you of this so you don’t miss your flight!!!

Pros:

I had requested full coverage insurance for this rental. The agent who issued the car to me never added that coverage. Unfortunately I was involved in an accident and I was told that I wasn’t covered.

Cons:

Having been listened to better at the time of pick up and to have been covered by the requested full coverage insurance.

Pros:

Car was perfectly clean, and had better features (forward automatic braking) than most rental cars.

Cons:

Car was reported as full but came with 3/4 of a tank, though they did reimburse my refueling. Impossible to add a second driver without both drivers going to the desk, which is much stricter than any other rental company I have experienced.

Pros:

I made an online reservation for a one-way rental and booked a non-refundable motel room in my destination city. Got a call the next morning that they didn't have a car for me, that they didn't do a one-way rental between the cities. Personnel were polite and professional and apologized.

Cons:

Their reservation system sucks. It lets you make a reservation that the company can't fulfill. I needed a one-way rental to pick up a motorcycle I had bought a couple months ago. I tried several companies including Enterprise which I usually use for one-way rentals. None were accepting a one-way rental until I tried Hertz and made a reservation. I then booked a non-refundable motel room in my destination city. Got a call from Hertz the next morning that they didn't have a car for me, that they didn't do a one-way rental between the cities my reservation was for. Personnel were polite, professional and apologized. I told them their reservation system sucked and they agreed. I got the impression this was a routine occurrence - their reservation system accepting reservations that could not be fulfilled.

They literally booked me at a location that no longer existed. Then they refused to refund. I really loved that. Totally didn't ruin my vacation at all.

Cons:

Everything. I never actually got my car and they kept 2/3rds of my money.
