Car wasn't ready when we arrived and it took over 1/2 hour to find me a car to fit my reservation. Did they not know I was coming? I made the reservation a week ago.

Pros:

Service at the store in Chesapeake, VA was very good. Friendly fast service. The return at Charlotte, NC airport was fast and hassle free.

Cons:

Car windows were fairly dirty that made some of my tired night driving difficult. Frankly I didn't notice until the sun went down but it did make visibility more difficult than it needed to be.

The customer service person was a new employee but got some assistance from another staff person.

Cons:

I'm still waiting for confirmation that all was good with the car upon return! Budget system was down again! My car was dirty and could've used a car washing! I took it to a car wash immediately after leaving the budget office.

The kayak service was excellent!

Cons:

Budget car was comfortable, but had acceleration problems and idled rough. Also Budget charged far more than the advertised rate on the car. Unknown what charges were added. I added coverage for the car, but charges far in excess of that.

Pros:

The staff were just down right horrible. They told me they had no cars any where in the area. I was on hold with customer service for an hour and a half and the guy hung up on me. For all the hassle I went thru they didnt offer me any thing nor were they even nice. They made my whole trip a wreck.

Pros:

Car was very nice. Able to to turn in car after hours.

Cons:

They were completely unprepared with my vehicle. Took a long time to fuel the vehicle, clean it, process the paperwork. They didn't answer the phones when I called ahead of time to ensure they were getting it ready. I waited 45min-1 hour after my reservation time to get my vehicle. Not happy.

Pros:

The price.

Cons:

Office space is very shabby and dirty. Car smelled strongly of air fresheners and the high touch surfaces didn't seem to have been cleaned well. I think I somehow lucked out with not too much trouble but I won't be trying my luck at this Hertz again.

Rather it be cleaned more carefully ahead of time, but when we complained, the staff person was very courteous, and she cleaned it as best she could.

Pros:

Pick up was a nightmare. I mistakenly rented the car from an off-site, not at the airport, and was told I could cancel it and WOULD get a refund. We canceled and rented the car FROM the Hertz kiosk at the Norfolk, VA airport. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN MY REFUND YET!!! I've called several times!!!

Cons:

DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ!! There are better, more honest, more helpful companies. This one will NOT give me my refund!!!

They kept trying to upcharge us for everything! Our original price went from $140 to like $400 before I said no to all extra charges. The drop off location was also INCREDIBLY difficult to find.

The vehicle I reserved had an inoperative AC compressor. Alamo quickly substituted an equivalent vehicle but the new car was EXTREMELY dirty from the previous family and had not likely been cleaned by Alamo. I was in an rush to depart for our family trip so I could not take the time to have Alamo clean the car. During the course of the rental period, I detailed the interior which was filthy and washed the outside of the vehicle. As I was returning the car at Orlando International Airport, the attendant asked me if I was happy with the rental. I explained what happened and what I had done. He instantly apologized and then offered to compensate me with a discount on the rental. I was overwhelmed and shocked that he would offer that to me without my asking. It shows how serious Alamo is about customer satisfaction. I would rent from Alamo any time I am on travel. Keep up the great work!

This was the worst car experience I ever had. My reservation was for 12pm but the car rental agency is. closed from 12pm - 2pm. When we showed up at 2pm they said because it had been two hours the reservation was cancelled and the car was already resold. BUT ITS NOT POSSIBLE as they were closed so how did they sell the car. Anyway they almost ruined our vacation but luckily there was a RENT - A - CAR across the street with a super friendly staff and ended up being cheaper. NEVER USE ALAMO IN DAX

Pickup and return of the rental car to the CVG Cincinnati airport was superb. Returning a car quickly is so important with the pressure of getting it done before the flight time. The staff I worked with at CVG was excellent both in picking up the car and returning it.

Car was good and price was great , although the waiting times to pick up the car was quite high since only one person was working. In addition the worst part was when the drop off occured where there was no physical person and the car park was full and there was no space to park the car safely, we called the appropriate number but there was no people speaking proper English to guide us had to leave the car in a bad way parked which stressed us as all sorts of issues could occur, can expect one floor of car park to accommodate all the rentals.

Loved the 2024 Subaru Outback and a dream car to drive with 7k miles. Last rental with Alamo 2 weeks ago was a old Malibu with too many miles and should be retired. First experience with Dollar and a 10 star everyone was so nice!

This would have been a good experience apart from two things: 1) the repeated pestering texts and e-mails insisting that I check in online in advance, which I tried to do but the system didn't work; and 2) HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I waited for over half an hour to speak to someone in India who was hard to understand and then in the end said she couldn't do anything to change my pick-up time because I had booked through a third party service, and gave me a non-functional phone number to try to reach the airport desk. What a pity. The car was fine and the airport pick-up staff were fine. But I will never use Dollar again because that company wouldn't let those people just do their job.
