The rental car operation at CHS was overwhelmed - I waited an over an hour waiting in lines. They had to pull my vehicle from a remote lot - it wasn’t in the garage. The car was clean on the outside but the interior was not - my wife spent time wiping everything down. The tires were really worn - I wish that I had more time to reject the vehicle - bald spots on all four tires. Returning to Budget at OKC was fast and friendly - that part of the rental was terrific!

Our car was great and dropping off was great. The real issue was in picking up the car. We came from Nice, not from the airport which was the first challenging part. There was not an address on our rental confirmation so we just used google to look up Sixt rental. Google took us to a place inside the airport. We waited there for over 30 minutes and then the worker told us that we had to go to a different place, but didn't really clearly explain where. When we did find the rental place it was very obvious and I think would be really easy to find if you were landing there in the airport, but very frustrating experience.

My scheduled pickup time was 11:00 am but our flight was early and ended up getting to the ticket counter at 9:30 am. They wouldn't issue me the car until 11:00 am so we had to sit there for an hour and a half waiting. There has to be a better way.

Cons:

They wouldn't allow me to inspect the vehicle before. They said it was too dark. I came back, and there was a tiny scuff evaluated by a non-Hertz employee. I have outside insurance purchased, but I bet it's going to be a hassle.

Price was good for the 12-day rental. It was exhausting at the time of car pickup, the lady kept trying to upsell me on a bigger car, more insurance coverage. What could take 10 minutes for signing the rental agreement, took over 30 minutes. Everything else was amazing.

Had a Mercedes lined up for $500 over four days and was told we could get a van for much less with much more room. Took 15 minutes to switch the reservation around, and only at the end was I told that it was almost $290 more, despite the agents assurance it would be less.

Staff friendly and helpful

Cons:

The Lyon drop-off address we were provided was wrong. Not slightly, completely. Entirely different block, in a garage with little-to-no signage, requiring an access code that we didn't learn about until we were able to get through on the phone, which also took some trying. Put us about an hour behind schedule.

Pros:

Drop off is so easy. Pick up takes somewhat longer than expected, perhaps due to my booking was not doen directly with Hertz/thrift. They asked me to write down typical info such as address, cell number and email which was given when booking was made.

The car was fine. Clean and in good shape. The pick up experience was a “strong arm” to buy insurance. My credit card covers and CDW issues, but I was forced to sign (a copy of a copy of a copy) a form that I could be on the hook for $50,000.00 (for a Nissan?) if I had an accident. I was completely shot from a long travel day, so I agreed to the insurance. It took a very long time to complete the process and it was not very satisfying. I assumed Europcar was a major player, which is why I chose them. I’ll not make that mistake again. Read the reviews!!!!

Pros:

Generally liked the car (Renault Espace), but it is an experience. No visible dials, buttons, etc on the dash board. Definitely requires someone to show you how things work before driving away, but there was no one available to help.

Cons:

Arrived in Nice and they did not have the car I requested (Citroen C4 or similar). Said only car I could have was a van, in a different price category and that I would have to pay the difference in rates. Attendant said she was new and didn't have the ability to waive the extra cost. To me this is unacceptable and I would like to request a refund of the extra charges. At that moment, you are a prisoner, tired after the journey to get there, and with less will to fight. Drop off in Paris very difficult as drop offs, as I learned trough experience, are only in parking garages with no indication that Europcar have operations in them. Drove around for hours before finding Montparnasse.

The car was nice, staff were friendly

Cons:

The tank showed full, but only barely. Two miles further it was below 'full'. Which means that whoever returned it didn't do a good job filling up, nor did the garage pick up on it

Terrible terrible company. They gave away our car/cancelled our reservation and never gave us any solutions. Walked away from us while we were talking to them. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE.

Horrible - do not book with NextCar. They denied my car insurance because I was not the primary policyholder. I have full coverage insurance, so there was no logistical reason to deny it. The supplemental insurance cost as much as the rental itself. I was never told at the time of booking that I would be forced to use their insurance if I wasn’t the primary policyholder. I was only told so 24 hours out from my booking. I’m actively trying to get a refund for this.
